Weekly Writing Challenge: Poetry
The Writer’s Nightmare
No inspiration,
There is none,
I sit here, void, and
Twiddle thumbs.
It’s writer’s block that
Bogs me down.
The channel closed;
My smile a frown.
I patiently await a sign,
A notion that
Might just be mine,
That from the Ether
Will descend
And soon to Earth
Through me be penned.
But somehow it
Has missed
Its mark,
The channel
Unaligned; no
Spark.
A shift in
Wave length
Must be wrought
Before the
Words flow
Into thought.
So ’til that time I
Wait and
Wait and wait and
Wait and wait and wait,
Til once again Muse
Can be free
With words and thus
Inspire me.

This is scary. But for me, the worst fear is not having nothing to say, but having nothing worth saying. It’s a great poem. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to write from dark places like fear.
I see what you’re saying. I really try not to look at writer’s block as a negative place but an opportunity to rest and rejuvenate the creative muscle. Still, when you’re in the middle of it, it can be a dark and daunting place. The Muse was poking fun at it a little with this poem. At least I hope that’s how it comes across. … In what ever way the words spoke to you I appreciate that you took the time to read them. … Be well, Dorothy 🙂
Hmm, that is interesting. I agree, every kind of obstacle is an opportunity if we choose to see it that way (but they still suck lol).
Certainly when you’re in the middle of it … 😉
😀 true!

Well Said!!
Muses get busy sometimes, but if it asks you to press one and hold the line – hang up.
What a great rhyme! But don’t worry, the block will open up soon. It always does.
Yes, it will! … Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
